Hubble Space Telescope Replica
Edwin Hubble, one of the most famous astronomers of the 20th century, was a native of Marshfield Missouri. His work contributed significantly to our understanding of galaxies outside the Milky Way, the expansion of the universe, and the Big Bang. The Hubble Space Telescope, named by NASA in honor of Edwin, continues his scientific exploration by enabling scientists to observe distant stars, galaxies, and planets. This one-quarter size replica was presented by the Webster County Historical Society on June 12, 1999 and stands in the square of Marshfield, Missouri off Route 66 in honor of him.
