David J. Manning is an outdoor photographer based in Northern Illinois. He specializes in rural landscapes and small-town street photography with a focus on destination and travel, Americana, architecture, and scenes of everyday life in small rural towns. His passion is to create images that provoke reflection, convey beauty, and encourage viewers to see familiar places in a new light.

His love for photography springs from a broader drive for creative expression alongside playing guitar, writing, and drawing. “More than a creative outlet, photography is, for me, personal therapy. Being in the moment - exploring, seeing, feeling, connecting, framing, capturing the scene, and shaping the images later in post - creates an inner calm and ignites my creativity. I value the joy I find while making pictures, whether it’s a few minutes with something that catches my eye or an extended project or outing.”

David resides in Boone County, Illinois with his wife, three daughters, and his dog Bones.
